PaulJulia Designs website does not use an SSL certificate

  • We do not need an SSL certificate because:
  1. Our shopping cart uses PayPal Standard to process credit cards, debit cards and account balance payments from customers. When a customer is ready to pay for an order, he or she will click on “Proceed to PayPal” button. This will bring the customer to the PayPal page with the SSL certificate. This is indicated with “https” to show security of the page.
  2. We also accept United States Postal Service Money Orders as a payment method. We do not directly accept personal or business checks, or bank wire transfers as a form of payment.

Do we use ‘cookies’?

Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the site’s or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain unique information. For instance, we use cookies to help us remember and process the items in your shopping cart. They are also used to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current site activity, which enables us to provide you with improved service. We also use cookies to help us compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

We use cookies to:

  • Help remember and process the items in the shopping cart.

Since browsers are slightly different in functionality, look at your browser’s Help Menu to learn the correct way to adjust your cookies.

Controlling browser cookies

If you turn cookies off in the Internet browser, some features will be disabled. For instance, your site experience may not function properly. Additionally, your shopping cart will not function.

Cookies keep track of shopping cart data, and help when the data changes based upon customer’ preferences. The cart cookie also contains a unique code for each customer so that it knows where to find the cart data in the database for each customer. No personal information is stored within these cookies.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personally Identifiable Information unless we provide users with advance notice. Fair Information Practices Principles

The Fair Information Practices Principles form the backbone of privacy law in the United States and the concepts they include have played a significant role in the development of data protection laws worldwide. In order to be in compliance with Fair Information Practices we will take the following responsive action, should a data breach occur:

  • We will notify you via email within 7 business days.

We also agree to the Individual Redress Principle which requires that individuals have the right to legally pursue enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This principle requires not only that individuals have enforceable rights against data users, but also that individuals have recourse in courts or government agencies to investigate and/or prosecute non-compliance by data processors.
